Artists Bio:

I am a professor who loves to paint. My day job is teaching English at Barnard College, part of Columbia University in New York City. I've written two books that study how certain motifs are expressed in words and images: New York Nocturne (2008), about the city after dark, and Grasping Shadows (2016), about the dark side of objects and people. I like painting landscapes, still lifes, and anything else that might have special meaning and not move too fast to be captured with a brush. I am a signature member of the Vermont Watercolor Society.
