Artists Bio: The four seasons and the effect they have on Vermont's mountains, lakes, forests and other natural and built environments has a strong influence on what I love to paint. For every season there is a different quality of light and an amazing range of hues to capture with water, pigment and brush. My father, Harlow Lent, a fine artist, was my first art teacher. I feel very fortunate to have spent countless hours roaming the woods and hillsides fully immersed in nature near my hometown, South Strafford, Vermont. Now, as an adult Vermonter I take special joy in painting scenes that are "just down the road". My journey as an artist includes college studies in art and fashion design. A long career detour in the education field was punctuated with many week-long painting workshops most notably with Peter Huntoon, Bill Lambert, Peter Granucci, and Susan Abbott. With this combination of varied influences in my instruction I am striving to develop a style of my own which is representational with special emphasis on shape and color values. Much of my work has a graphic quality combining angular and organic shapes. Watercolor is a challenging medium and I will always continue to broaden my ability to enrich my work.
