Artist’s Bio: Lydia Wisloski, a 38-year resident of Essex, has resumed painting in retirement, after a 20-year break pursuing a career in real estate sales. Her primary focus is watercolor, although she is comfortable in many media. She has loved art since early childhood. She earned a BS in Art Education from Kutztown University, PA, where she graduated first in her class, and continued with an MA in Painting studying at Tyler School of Art of Temple University and Goddard College.
In Pennsylvania, Lydia taught art in the public schools at all age levels. In Vermont she taught watercolor in Essex Junction adult recreation programs, taught children and adults privately, and taught at local museums. In Pennsylvania she developed an award winning craft business The Gaggle of Geese. She has exhibited in juried shows throughout Vermont, Pennsylvania, and New England, and has garnered awards and been the featured artist at various venues.
Artist’s Statement: “The natural beauty of Vermont inspires me, especially the rural areas, old farm structures and architecture. I am inspired by the strength, inventiveness and tenacity of people who grew up here. I like to saturate myself in the spirit of the types of places I paint, and try to convey that.”
