My paintings explore the natural world and the nature of life. Painting nature is an immersive experience that connects me to the landscape, and I find it delightful to express what I see on paper and share it with other people.

I also delve into the nature of life creating images inspired by concepts, ideas, and processes that I think about. In the case of the two paintings shown here, Time is the consideration. Each painting began with an image or two that illustrate measuring time or a process that requires us to notice the passage of time. As the paintings develop, other images come to mind that enrich the work with multiple layers. This work evolves intuitively, and so the final painting is always something of a surprise as I move beyond the original impulse.
